The hip bone's connected to the.....shoulder bone?

Close up and personal to your fascia and its web like, stretchy nature.

Many of us think of our bodies as compartments making up a hole. The cardiovascular system, the muscular system, the nervous system, the lymphatic system ecetera. But in actuality

Superfiscial fascia is like the white underbelly or the orange skin and the deep fascia is like the clear skin around each segment and orange fiber within the segment.

these systems are interdependent, one effecting the other. Connective tissue, which is the fascia, tendons, ligaments, blood, bone, fat and cartilage holds us together, absorbs impact and/or energy and supports our body in our movements. Fascia which is the film that surrounds every singly blood vessel, bone, organ, muscle fiber is actually inter woven throughout our body literally connecting everything to everything else. It holds our body together much like the outer layer of orange segments and the skin or the orange and its white under belly hold it and its segments together. This tissue is said to be innervated and contain contractile cells so it can constrict and respond to the fight and flight or rest and digest mechanism of our central nervous system. One of the effects of its constriction either due dehydration, stress or even to over activity or lack there of or even a drastic change between the two is that it can wrap tight around your muscle like serran wrap. Another way it can act is how a flat linen twisted in the corner, it will pull on a diagonal and cross over effecting the opposite side of the body. For example, if you have a tightening in you left hip, it can travel to your right shoulder. Knowing this you can understand a bit on how the body compensates and how pain can effect other parts of your body or how a tight muscle group and effect another part of your body. Movement is dynamic and incorporates many aspects of the body and involves and effects your body as a whole. Also, fascia is thixotrophic, which means it softens when warmed by the friction produced when massage therapist work on a tense area. One of the reasons massage therapy can benefit your body as a whole. For more reading on the top photo.
